Absolutely the most unique and iconic Custer store front is for sale and ready for your brilliant idea! Built by local legendary stonemason Monte Nystrom (who also built the fireplaces at nearby Custer State Park resorts) in 1929, this structure is truly a masterpiece as Nystrom faced the building using 55 tons of petrified wood. Inside is one of the WORLD's most colorful fireplaces made up of petrified wood, fossils, quartz, mica, petrified mosses and cave crystals and hundreds of other specimens found in the Black Hills. The building has 21' tall ceilings making this small gem feel so much bigger. The beams, rounded window/doors and massive wrought iron chandelier add to the wonderment & awe of this building. This building hosted a tourist shop, Anderson Jewelry & in recent years Barfoot Jewelry and now a gallery and specialty retail shop.
